Lake Shore Cryogenic Temperature Sensors — Cernox®, Silicon Diode, Rox™, Germanium, Platinum


Lake Shore's sensor range covers virtually every cryogenic thermometry requirement from 5 mK to 873 K. Cernox® RTDs are the industry's most widely specified cryogenic sensor, valued for low magnetic field-induced errors, high sensitivity at low temperatures, excellent radiation resistance, and fast thermal response (as quick as 1.5 ms at 4.2 K). For general-purpose cryogenic use without strong magnetic fields, DT-670 silicon diodes deliver the widest calibrated range (1.4 K–500 K) of any diode in the industry with tight tolerances from 30 K–500 K. For sub-50 mK work, Ultra-Low Temperature Rox™ and Interchangeable Rox™ sensors extend usable measurement down to 5 mK, while capacitance sensors are the choice when massive magnetic fields would otherwise disturb resistive thermometry. Platinum RTDs cover the higher end, up to 873 K, conforming to IEC 751.

Lake Shore's controller lineup spans single-loop lab instruments to large multi-channel systems for cryostats, dilution refrigerators, and MBE/UHV chambers. The Model 336 is the workhorse 4-input, 4-output controller supporting diode, RTD, and thermocouple sensors with control down to 300 mK. The Model 350 is purpose-built for He-3 and ultra-low-temperature refrigeration platforms, with patented low-noise input circuitry to minimize self-heating and 4 independent PID loops. For dilution refrigerators operating below 100 mK, the Model 372 AC resistance bridge provides precision impedance measurement and is expandable to 16 channels. The Model 346 is the choice for large systems needing serious heater power — up to 400 W across 4 outputs, controlling from 300 mK to 1,505 K.

For DC and AC magnetic field measurement and control, the F71 multi-axis and F41 single-axis teslameters are Lake Shore's current-generation platform, featuring patented TruZero™ technology that eliminates manual probe re-zeroing, a 5-inch TiltView™ touchscreen, and field ranges from 1 mG to 350 kG across DC to 50 kHz. The Model 475 DSP gaussmeter remains a strong benchtop choice for electromagnet field control and AC field measurement with 15 band-pass and 3 low-pass AC filters and resolution to 0.02 mG. The Model 425 is the economical entry point for permanent magnet QC and magnet sorting applications.
